Michelle visits from China

We were fortunate to have Sage's guest, Michelle, come and talk to the class about China. We discovered a beautiful country and learned so many new things. Did you know the length of the Great Wall is greater than the distance from New York to California? Michelle brough fortune cookies, chop sticks and lucky red envelopes. Did you know fortune cookies are a product of the United States? Open the link below for photos?

Right to Read Week

The students had a grand time visiting the reading stations in the hallway during Right to Read Week. We enjoyed having Mr. Burns as a guest reader in our classroom. The students at our school reached their goal by reading over 5,000 books during the week. Mr. Burns fulfilled his promise by reading a story from the roof of the school! He was such a good sport because our crazy Ohio weather included snow on that day. Check the link below for photos.

Rabbit and Tiger

The students had fun recently acting out the parts for our story, Rabbit and Tiger. I am proud of their effort to use expression and intonation. View the link below for photos.

Making Paste

One of our science experiments allowed students to explore with the properties of flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Students added water to each substance to see which was the stickiest. They voted on a graph for the stickiest one. The next day they were allowed to create their own recipe for paste by using 5 teaspoons of ingredients added to water. They were all successful in creating a recipe for paste. We tested our paste by gluing a bean onto an index card. These scientists were quite clever! Click the link below for photos.
