News from the Principal

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year to everyone! We continue to focus on our school mission in 2013: Providing Education to Achieve Success! We have had a wonderful first half of this school year and I am sure that the second half will be even better. There are several fun and exciting activities and events planned for the school year.
We strive to be the Best Organization for Learning! Lake Elementary School has just received a recognition letter for academic growth from Battelle for Kids. Our school building has been identified as achieving very high growth during the 2011-2012 school year. Lake Elementary School has the distinction of being in the top 2% of high achieving schools in the state of Ohio. This is truly a great accomplishment for our students and staff. Congratulations to everyone!
There will be changes to the early student drop off and pick up procedures at Lake Elementary. Students arriving from 8:15 am to 8:35am will need to enter door #4 at the office and proceed directly to the cafeteria which is supervised at this time effective immediately. Early student drop off does NOT start until 8:15 am unless the student attends the YMCA daycare program. Students arriving from 8:35 am to 8:45am will enter door #3 and proceed to their classrooms. At the end of the day for parent pick up, parents will need to line up outside door #4 on the sidewalk. The students will line up inside the building. After a parent signs their child out for the day, we will release the child to the parent who is waiting for them outside. Door #3 will remain locked. The change to our parent pick up procedures will begin Monday, January 14. I encourage families to utilize our bus transportation services as often as possible.
As winter is upon us please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for recess. I recommend a warm hat, gloves, and even boots, especially on snowy days. We try to go outside as much as possible. We only stay in if the wind chill is below 20 degrees.
Lake Elementary is truly a special place to be. Our students are bright, young, caring individuals with so many great school and life lessons ahead of them. We are proud to be the educators of such incredible students. Conferences are February 7 and 12 from 4:00-7:30 pm. We have student-led conferences at Lake Elementary and we prefer that students attend their conference if at all possible. You can schedule your conferences electronically through My Conference Time so that you can select a convenient time for you and your child.
Mrs. Donna Bruner
