Safe Schools Tipline – 330-877-7630

Our staff works hard to ensure that our schools are safe and caring places.  We encourage students and parents to speak directly to each other at home and at school; however we realize that sometimes when students become aware of unsafe people or situations, it can be very difficult to be direct out of fear or pressure to keep things silent.  The SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE is not to replace direct communication – that is still encouraged as the best way to communicate, however, the Tipline provides a venue to help keep our schools safe when speaking directly may not be comfortable.  The SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE IS ANONYMOUS.
If you or your student were to suspect or become aware of any students or adults in a school who are planning, threatening, or acting in any way to harm themselves or others, please let us know.  This includes but is not limited to the use or possession of drugs, knives, guns and/or other threats to injure, bully or assault others.  If you are not comfortable speaking directly with staff at the school level, use the SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE at 330-877-7630.  It is a fast, effective and safe way to let us know about the unsafe situation and not worry about being identified as the source of the information.
The SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE is on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and forwards to the appropriate staff.  Tips will be referred to school or law enforcement authorities.  When a person calls the TIPLINE, they will hear the following:
“Thank you for calling Lake Local Schools Safe Schools Tipline.  If this is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911 now.  To report a concern about safety at one of the schools in the Lake Local School District, please listen carefully to the rest of this message and wait for the tone to leave your message.  After you hear the tone, state clearly and slowly, the name of the school, a description of the unsafe situation, and provide names or descriptions of the persons involved to the best of your ability.  You don’t need to have all of the information, but the better “tip” you provide, the better we can follow up and help keep your school safe.  Thank you for your call”.  Tone……
The SAFE SCHOOLS TIPLINE is intended to give students and parents an easy way to report unsafe situations and to help us work together in this important area.  Please spend some time with your student today to share this information.  Discuss with them the importance of their help in keeping their school safe.  If you have any questions about the Tipline, please feel free to contact your building principal.
