Both the boys' and girls' Track & Field teams placed 3rd out of 11 teams at the Tallmadge Bill Barry invitational this past Saturday. The competition was strong, but the Blue Streaks posted impressive performances from both the boys and girls teams to place 3rd.
For the girls, Karli Oprian set a new meet record in the 100 by running it in 12.5 seconds. In addition to her first place, Karli also finished second in the 200. Other 2nd place performers were Jayln Vance in the long jump, Lexi Gower in the disc, and Haley Groubert in the pole vault.
The boys had several first place finishers. Jake Viscounte set a new meet record by winning the 400 with a time of 49.9 seconds. Phil Burt swept the hurdles by placing first in both the 110 and 300 hurdles. Also, the boys 4 X 400 team won their event in a time of 3:30. Members of the 4 X 400 team are: Phil Burt, Jordan Smith, Jared Milhoan, and Jake Viscounte. The 4 X 100 team claimed first well. Team members are Phil Burt, Tony Horton, Jared Milhoan, and Jake Viscounte.
The Blue Streaks run against Perry Tuesday in dual meet action and then compete against Jackson Thursday. Both of those dual meets are held at home. Congratulations to the Blue Streak Track and Field teams!
